The best time to visit Amarnath Temple is during the Shri Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled from July 3, 2026, to August 28, 2026. Those 57 days are the only time the cave is open for pilgrims. When you go on a trip depends entirely on your timing. The peaks still have snow in early July and the trails are packed with people – just what you want if you are looking for snowy landscapes at Amarnath Temple, Kashmir, and the ice shivling at its most spiritual.
Fewer pilgrims make the climb by late August, costs are lower and trails are clearer, although monsoon rains become a factor. Most of the visitors combine pilgrimage with Kashmir tour packages. Srinagar, Pahalgam or Gulmarg are visited before or after to complete their Himalayan journey.
